The speaker setup does not need a camera. A separate camera version is being developed. It is not a released bundle, a supported accessory list, or a promise that generic Wi-Fi cameras work with Best Friend Says.
Exact prototype
The owned prototype is the JZDCBQ19 camera sold under Amazon ASIN B0H5RGSZSZ. It uses SuLink; the tested unit reports model Q302S1AMX2_V821B and firmware V821B_FASTIOT_1.01.001. A native 1080p RTSP live stream has been demonstrated with this unit. An SD card was not needed for that live-stream test. On the tested iPhone build 60, live camera video and Stop/reconnect checks passed. A real 9.5-second 1080p H.264 clip was recorded, and Save and Discard checks passed. The recorded video has no audio track.
This is bounded evidence from the exact camera and tested iPhone build. It does not establish a finished customer camera experience, portable use, battery duration, outdoor performance, animal-safe fit, or compatible white-label production.
What remains under development
The iPhone prototype has passed the live-video, Stop/reconnect and silent-recording checks described above. Playback action mapping and the customer-facing camera interface are being corrected. Playback, controls and the complete customer flow still need fresh acceptance after those fixes.
The combined Android R3 build passed 313 host tests and is now verified installed on the tested phone. Nine device checks of saved state and failed commits passed with user data preserved. Those checks do not establish Android camera operation, audible responses or recognition on a phone. Camera-to-phone connectivity away from the tested network, image interpretation, permissions, privacy and speaker coexistence still need validation before a customer release.
The owner and family plan to supply a 3D-printed collar-mount design later. No final CAD, collar attachment, safety certification, waterproof rating or manufacturing specification has been approved. Do not mount this prototype on an animal based on a live-video test alone.
Local camera design
The intended app connection is directly to supported camera hardware over the local network, with selected images processed on the phone. This camera link is separate from sound-only Pack Chat. The prototype’s vendor setup app has been observed contacting a cloud relay. That relay is not an approved route for app speech or media; local video evidence does not establish private firmware or vendor-service behavior. Portable setup, camera audio and complete privacy checks remain open.
Price and supply
A matching retail listing is not an OEM or bulk quote. Bulk supply, exact board/firmware consistency, white-label rights, minimum quantity, tooling, landed cost, quality control, certifications, warranty and replacement terms remain unverified. No final camera-bundle price or shipment date is published.
Do not buy this camera expecting a ready Best Friend Says camera feature. Wait for a verified supported model, setup guide and purchase offer. The vendor's SuLink service has separate behavior and terms; its cloud/privacy design must be assessed before bundle release.
